1 Year Shop Anniversary!!!

Hello Clients and Friends,

March 15th 2008 is the one year anniversary of Ge’Bougie Locs and Cuts!

I am in the process of planning something to celebrate this milestone in my business. I would like to hear from you and know what you think would be the proper celebration.

Please forward me any of your ideas.

What Is The Difference Between Locs and Twist?

I get this question every week!

Locs are created by several different methods. The most common is the comb twist or coil. The hair is left in the coil and starts to loc. Locs are permanent and cannot be washed out once the hair has completed the loc process. The process depends on the texture of hair and can take anywhere from 3 months to a year.

Twist are also a coil created with a comb, but they are temporary. Twist can be washed out. I suggest all clients do this after 2-3 weeks or the hair can begin the loc process.

I never suggest going from Twist to Locs. Twist are created for style and the amount of hair in a twist coil can be less then need in a loc coil. The loc base needs to be strong enough to support the growth of the hair and sometimes the twist coil does not permit this.

If you have any questions please ask!

Gentleman1983:Molasses Hair?

gentleman1983 says:
Molasses moves faster than how my hair grows. Way back when(the last time I grew out my hair), I used 3 blow-out kits on my hair throughout a two and a half year period. It got some height but it wasn’t a decent-looking bunch of hair (it would have been a crime to call it an afro). Now I am growing my hair natural yet I desire my growth to catch up to at least a molasses pace.

Hello Gentleman 1983,

It seems our hair never grows as fast as we want it to, sort of like watching grass grow. You know it is has to be growing, but you just cannot see it.

Concentrate on the health of your hair and it will grow. Make sure that you are using proper shampoos and conditioners on  a regular basis. The shampoo you use should be a moisturizing shampoo with a creamy look. The conditioner you use should be a rich in Keratin, which is protien.

Also get your hair trimmed on a regular basis. This will also promote healthy hair, which leads to hair growth.

Follow these steps and you should improvement in your hair growth.

If you would like a in the shop consultation, so I can give you more detailed advise for you hair, please come to Ge’Bougie Locs and Cuts.

I hope this answered your question. If not, let me know and I will do my best to help you.

Happy Growing,

Bequita

Going From Relaxed Hair to Natural Hair…..with ease.

The conversion of relaxed hair or chemically treated can be easy. There are several styles that can be long lasting and carefree.

Here are a few question you need to ask yourself first.

1. Why am I going natural?

2. What type of styles do I want to be able to wear?

3. Do I want to still have the change my style often or am I going for one particular look?

Roller Sets or any set curls are good for making your transition. They hide the new growth well. These stlyes are longer lasting.

Another option is just shampoo and flat iron, but keep in mind the style will not be long lasting. Depending on the amount of humidty or sweat your hair is exposed to determines the life of this style.

Locs are also an option in this conversion, and you do not have to cut off the relaxer. There are several techniques that offer you the ablitly to go from relaxed hair to having locs with ease.

So, ladies do not think that your conversion has to be painfull. You can enjoy this period of your hair also.

If you have any questions……just ask.
